Billing system maintenance July 3rd, 2008

Posted in General, Maintenance
June 30th, 2008

On Thursday July 3rd we will be taking our billing system offline to perform major upgrades. During this time invoices will not be able to be viewed or paid. Once the system is back online we will have some major improvements over the old system including but not limited to: Invoice information included in invoice emails, more user friendly billing system, cart based sign-up form (to allow the purchase of multiple domains and hosting accounts).

At this point the system is fully tested and we will begin migrating customers over on Thursday morning, we are not expecting this transition to take more than one day.

We will post updates as needed.

Update: Our new system is online, we are still working out some non-critical issues here and there, if you are having issues with anything feel free to contact us. All of our client data has been migrated over to the updated system, billing logins and everything else stays the same. Thanks.

SSL added to incoming/outgoing email, cpanel, webmail

June 19th, 2008

We’ve added SSL support to our incoming (pop/imap), outgoing (smtp), webmail and cpanel services.

Pop, imap and smtp services are running on their standard ports, no need to change the port to get around ISP blocks. Simply switch your connection type from standard to SSL. Ideally you will want to use your main hostname while connecting through SSL, since SSL runs with a certificate. If you run it through your domain name, you will get certificate errors. These certificate errors do not identify a lack of security, they are simply a warning, the security is the exact same. If you are unsure of your hostname please contact us with your domain name.

To connect to cpanel and webmail through SSL simply add https instead of http to the URL and you will be forwarded to the valid URL. https://yourdomain.com/webmail and https://yourdomain.com/cpanel

Proxy Support added for Cpanel and Webmail

June 19th, 2008

Ever been at work or school only to find that cpanel and webmail are blocked by a firewall because they run on their own port? We’ve added a solution to all domains which uses a proxy to get around this port issue. Simply go to http://webmail.yourdomain.com or http://cpanel.yourdomain.com and your connection will automatically run through our proxy. We do not recommend using these proxy subdomains unless you need them, cpanel and webmail may run much slower while running through the proxy. The subdomains should have automatically been added to all domains, but if you have any issues please contact us.

Announcing RoundCube webmail support

Posted in General
June 19th, 2008

Effective immediately, all of our servers have been equipped with RoundCube webmail. RoundCube is now our most modern webmail application, mimicking many standalone email applications, such as mac mail. RoundCube is not quite as robust as squirrelmail or horde, but it is far more slick and uses ajax which makes it very quick by reducing page reloads. Some of our users have been testing RoundCube for the last few weeks and have been very impressed with it. Let us know if you have any issues or comments.

RoundCube is available on the webmail homepage.

Changes to billing

May 28th, 2008

Information on this will also be included at the top of July’s invoices. We’ve decided to make some changes to our invoice and credit card processing in response to feedback from a few of our clients.

From now on all invoices will be due on the 1st of the month. All invoices will be generated 5 days before their due date. So if an invoice is due on July 1st, it will be generated on June 26th. That alone should add some nice consistancy.

The biggest change is this: we will no longer be processing credit cards on the generation date, we will be processing them on the due date. So now everyone will know 5 days ahead of time how much they are getting charged. This also gives you a chance to review your invoice before your credit card is processed.

If you’re on a check(cheque)/invoice system, your due dates are going to get a little tighter, but if you have any concerns about that feel free to contact us.

We think these changes will help clear up a lot of confusion and create a better flow to the invoicing. Submit a ticket or send us an email if you have any questions.
